Everett Lamont

Obituary of Everett Lamont

Charles “Everett” Lamont of Culross Township passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Monday, October 14, 2024 in the Wingham and District Hospital, at age 90.

Lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Lenora (née Hamilton).  Dear father of Deb Meyer (Tim) of Culross Township, and Brent Lamont (Tammy) of Teeswater.  Proud grandpa of Craig Meyer (Megan), Alli Meyer, Jonathon Lamont (Rachael), Robert Lamont, and Rebecca Lamont.  Also missed by step-great-grandson, Taytum.

Fondly remembered by his sister, Joan Whytock of Teeswater, brothers Frank Lamont of Sauble Falls, Larry Lamont of Culross Township, Bryan Lamont (Norine) of London, and brother-in-law Milton Dale of Clinton.  He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Calvin and Merle (née Leeson) Lamont, brothers Lloyd Lamont (Shirley) and Ron Lamont (Anne), in-laws Jim Whytock, Brenda Lamont, Carol Lamont, Shirley Lyon (Murray), and Helen Dale.

Everett’s love of baseball, especially the Toronto Blue Jays, was well known.  Back in his playing days, he was the first pitcher in the area to pitch windmill rather than orthodox, and boasted of having a no-hit game. He was an active member in Junior Farmers, where he met the love of his life, Lenora.  As a lifelong farmer, Everett particularly enjoyed watching the young cattle in his herd.  He was also an active member of the Salem United Church.  Later in his life, he could often be found at his grandchildren’s hockey games, at the curling rink, or watching sports on television.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 12-2pm at Tiffin Funeral Home in Teeswater. Funeral service to follow at 2:30.  Interment to take place at Durham Road Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation or the Durham Road Baptist Cemetery as expressions of sympathy.

The family would like to thank the supportive staff of the Wingham and District Hospital for their care and compassion in his final days.
