Joyce was a retired employee of over 30 years with Mutual Life (Guelph). In her younger years, a member of Junior Farmers and a cast member in many plays! Joyce enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, gardening, and travelling when they were still able to. She was an avid reader, a terrific bowler (Guelph ONT) and volunteered with different charities.

A special thanks to her niece, Karen James (née Thornton) when she became her full-time caregiver in Sept 2020 after a stroke diagnosis, and frontal lobe dementia, allowing her the option of being able to stay in her own home rather than into an assisted care home. Special thank you to the staff and nursing care at Braemar Retirement Centre (LTC) (Dec 2022 to March 2024) for their care and compassion throughout this time as she navigated many major health issues which left her unable to continue living at home. They treated her with dignity and grace, and she brought many a smile to their faces. She will be missed.
