Obituary of Barry Tiffin
Barry Carlyle Tiffin of London, passed away peacefully, at Huron Hospice (a place he called heaven on earth) on Sunday, May 30th, 2021, in his 77th year.
Beloved partner of the late Charles St. Pierre (November 2009).
Cherished son of the late Daniel Tiffin (January 1985) and Jean (née Stewart) Tiffin (April 2014).
Fondly remembered by his siblings, Bevin Tiffin (Ann Marie), Doug Tiffin (Brenda) and Joyce Hansen.
Dear uncle of Stephen Tiffin (Kendra), Lori Lowry (Dennis), Mike Tiffin (Kelly) and Dean Tiffin.
Missed by his great-nieces and nephews, Britney, Brooklyn, Ayden, MacKenzie, Rhys, Logan, Riley and Grayson and great-great-nephew Eastin.
Survived by his extended family, Louena St. Pierre, Alice St. Pierre, Dawn Lapensee (John), Linda Lapensee (Peter), Andrea Rejesky, cousins Joan McGlynn, Shirley Snowden and Joe Tiffin Jr. and his church family at First-St. Andrew’s.
Predeceased by his brother-in-law Ebbe Hansen, aunt and uncle, Marian and Joe Tiffin and his beloved cats Snowball and Hudson.
Born in Wingham on April 22nd, 1945, Barry was raised in the Whitechurch/Teeswater area. He worked for many years as a security guard and had a great love for every genre of music. Barry was a member of the Canadian Disc Jockey Association and worked as a Disc Jockey while living in Toronto. In his later years he became a dedicated and valued member of First-St. Andrew’s United Church, London. Barry always enjoyed family events, especially Christmas. His Christmas Pudding rivalled that of his mothers’, a tradition he cherished, and no gathering was complete without a friendly game of euchre.
First diagnosed in 2014, Barry showed unwavering determination and strength on his cancer journey. He was referred to as a “medical marvel” by his health care providers, defying the odds on many occasions. Barry embraced every new treatment offered to him trying to slow the progression of this dreaded disease. His willingness to consider these treatments will have lasting benefits for future patients.
Visitation will be held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m. Anyone wishing to attend the visitation must RSVP using the links below or by calling the funeral home. All attendees must wear a mask and respect physical distancing protocols.
A private family funeral service to honour Barry’s life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021, with Rev. Dr. David McKane officiating. The funeral service will be recorded and a link will be available on Barry’s webpage on Thursday.
Interment Wingham Cemetery.
